Eric C. Wiseman served as the CEO of VF Corporation, a major player in the apparel industry, from January 2008 until January 2017. With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, he has spent over 29 years in the business, joining VF in 1995. During his time, he held various leadership positions, ultimately becoming the President, COO, and then CEO. Notably, he succeeded Mackey J. McDonald as CEO and later took on the role of Chairman in August 2008. Throughout his tenure, Wiseman was known for his focus on aligning executive compensation with company performance, utilizing incentives based on financial achievements. In his final year at VF, his total compensation for 2017 was about $7.4 million, including salary, bonuses, and stock options. One interesting point in his career was the stock awards he received – he was awarded 20,000 shares of restricted stock that were dependent on the company’s performance. After stepping down from the CEO role, he left a legacy of strong leadership that pushed VF Corporation to new heights in the competitive apparel market.
