David Risher is the CEO of Lyft, Inc., taking the top role in April 2023 after serving on the board since July 2021. He has a background in both technology and non-profit sectors. David co-founded Worldreader, a non-profit organization focused on bringing digital books to children in developing countries, and has led it since 2009. Before that, he worked at Amazon as Senior Vice President of U.S. Retail and had a significant role at Microsoft as a General Manager. This diverse experience helps him lead Lyft, a ride-sharing platform that's changing urban transportation. David earned his B.A. from Princeton University and his MBA from Harvard Business School. In his first year as CEO, he’s packing a substantial compensation package, amounting to over $78 million, primarily through performance-based stock awards that align his interests with the company’s long-term success. His performance share units could bring him even more if Lyft's stock hits ambitious targets over the next few years.
